On Tuesday, I stopped in to speak to the Mayor and City Clerk in Mapleton, Iowa. The town of Mapleton was hit by an E-F3 tornado on Saturday, April 9th around 7:21 p.m. No one was killed and there were just a few injuries. The storm cell developed over Nebraska and made it all the way to Mapleton.

Coming into Mapleton on Hwy. 141, the stores on the north side of the street are destroyed.

The Bomgaars only suffered some roof damage.

Many cars were totalled.

The label "Not Safe" says it all here.

This trailer is destroyed. The inside has been gutted and it's all over the lawn.

So sad that so many houses are destroyed.

The Mapleton Fire Dept. lost part of their roof.

This garage was pushed a bit off the foundation.

This house has been labeled "unstable".
