Tootsie and Graham

IMG_5633

After our first dog Bows passed away I knew I wanted to get another dog. So I went to Pet Smart with my friend Sara about a month afterwards and I brought Tootsie home. Luckily, Matthew liked her and I was allowed to keep her.

The only information Noah's Hope Animal Rescue told us is that she came from a home with 2 other dog and she is approximately 3 years old. Since then we've discovered Tootsie is very needy for attention, is a picky eater, fears riding in the car, and is a fierce protector. She does not like allowing other dogs into our home (poor Simon!) and new people until she gets to sniff him/her.

When we had Graham everyone told us advice on how to bring the baby into the house and when to introduce Tootsie to the baby. We even had one snotty nurse tell us we should have taken the baby's hat home the day Graham was born so she could get used to his scent. When we told her that Tootsie was at my parents' house, she said "Well it's too late now."

So my parents brought Tootsie home the day we were coming home from the hospital. I walked in and greeted Tootsie then Matthew walked in and set the car seat on the floor. Tootsie eagerly jumped up to see who was in the carseat and did quite a bit of sniffing. Ever since then she's been smitten by Graham. She will let him kick her with his little feet or accidently fling his arms at her face and she does not move a muscle. I think he could pull her tail and she would not even blink....or we will find out once he gets more active and crawling.

And, even when her barking at every leaf and breeze gets annoying, we....well I am still thankful we found such a great protector in Tootsie. After all, she will make a great guard dog when Graham is old enough to play in the yard.
