I can't believe Behrend is four weeks old! It seems like he has always been a part of our family and now Matthew and I are kind of getting used to having two kids. Of course, it's just in time for his work schedule to start going crazy, but we will manage.
Behrend is weighing in at 8/5-9 pounds on our home scale. (I will have him weighed in two weeks when I go back to the doctor.) But, he is definitely getting chubby cheeks and getting too long to wear the 0-3 month size clothes. He is still in newborn diapers during the day, but at night we put him in size one to prevent leaks and extra wake ups. Behrend also has super long fingers and toes, so we wonder how tall and big he will be!
He is still a very easy baby and only fusses when he is hungry or needs a diaper changed. He is a much better burper than Graham was, so Lauri and Pat think he will make an excellent beer drinker when he's 21. Ha!
Behrend has been a great nurser since day one, but he is not a great night sleeper. We got spoiled with how well Graham slept at night, so this is crazy for me that Behrend wakes up 3-4 times at night. Typically he goes to bed around 8:30 p.m. and is up around 10 or 11 p.m. then again at 1ish a.m., 3 a.m. and 6 a.m. I am hoping that will start spacing out as he gets bigger and can eat more food in a sitting. He was sleeping in our room in a pack and play, because he is such a quiet crier that we could not hear him wake up. Now we have him in his crib and the baby monitor on.
Behrend still has lots of thick dark hair and his eyes are much darker than Graham's. I hope they end up hazel like Matthew's are since Graham has my blue eyes. He also has a darker skin tone than all of us, similiar to my Grandma's olive skin.
Overall, Behrend is a great addition to our family! He is a joy to have around and Graham loves to call him "Baby" and put his stuffed animals on top of him.
