It's hard to believe the above photo was taken just 4 days before Baby Behrend made his appearance! Matthew and I went to dinner at Red Lobster to celebrate our 5th wedding anniversary since I am now on "light" bedrest. We thought we had about 5 more weeks until our second child would be born. Ha! Once again the baby showed us who's the boss. Here is a little bit about what we've been up to over the last 2 weeks. Life is crazy, but good!
Day 1: Behrend was born at 1:26 a.m. and I slept for 20 minutes between then and 5:30 a.m. and for 1 and a half hours in the morning. Totally running on adrenaline. Can't believe we have a July baby and with so much hair!
Day 2: Totally forgot how little babies are! Well, Graham was not little for long. Also, experiencing some fun uterus shrinking, but nothing too bad. Ibuprofen is my friend.
Day 3: We get to go home! Matthew and Graham come up to bring the baby home...and me! Graham looks at his new baby brother on the way home. Now he's got a backseat passenger companion.
Day 4: We survived our first night at home. I tried to sleep downstairs with B in his nursery, but not much sleep was had. Tonight we plan to put him in our room in his pack and play. Thankfully G still has a great bedtime routine of bath, story and rocking so he went to bed well.
Day 5: My first day at home with both boys...and Tootsie. Tootsie gets out of the fenced yard twice and my mom and her friend Chris stop over for coffee and cuddles. Graham loves playing with Grandma Nancy and she brought him a tent with play tunnels for his new room!
Day 6: Nights are going okay. B slept in a few 3-hour chunks and is nursing well, but not for long periods. I have to strip him naked to get him to stay away for eating. My parents stop over to bring dinner and take Graham outside to play for a bit. It's raining so we are stuck inside. Kayla also dropped off dinner. Friends and family have been so good to us!
Day 7: Matthew has the day off and B has his check up at the doctor. He now weighs 7 pounds and 21 inches.Day 8: It's raining again! It's hard to stay inside and keep G entertained. This morning we made banana bread together then a new friend dropped off dinner. Behrend was more awake this morning and loves watching his big brother be loud.
Day 9: TGIF! So wish it would stop raining! After Holly and Landon brought over adorable big/little brother shirts we decided to hang out at my parents' house and then we all went to Bob Roes for pizza once Matthew got off work. Behrend is doing great at nursing and is continuing to grow!
Day 10: It's Saturday, so Matthew is home! Behrend only woke up once last night at 2 a.m. then not until 7:30 a.m.! It was so nice to catch up on sleep. Becca brought over dinner and my favorite peanut butter and jelly bars-yum! Matt's parents also stopped by along with Lauri and Katie. We ventured out to Red Robin for lunch.
Day 11: Sunday! We all tried to sleep in then my grandparents came to visit. After lunch we hung out while G took a nap then headed to Jagger's third birthday party! The cake was great and J got some neat gifts! Then Nellie arrived!
Day 12: Photo shoot for Baby B with Nellie! He pooped in her hand, too! She was nice enough to hold it so it did not get on the carpet. Then we got a few brother pics and family ones. After dinner we made Nellie walk up to DQ and the park with us.
Day 13: Nellie and I took the boys to my parents' house and Jerilynne brought Jagger and Memphis up to hang out. Then we got Chick Fil A for Nellie!
Day 14: Behrend went back to the doctor. He is now 7 lbs. 7 oz! That means he has gained 13 oz. since we left the hospital! Nellie has to go home today and it's very sad when she leaves. Alex and Jon bring chili for dinner and Graham helps the guys do some metal detecting.
Let's hope the rest of the weeks home with the two boys go as well as these have! Stay tuned for Behrend's very quick birth story, too!
