Pit Bulls are evil

Every day I take Bows for two walks (if the weather is nice). It's my excuse to get out of the house and she loves to frolick outside. I swear she gets a burst of energy when I just say "Walk?" So, last night I got home late and decided to go for a quick walk to my Aunt Janet's house, which is close by our house. We left around 6 p.m. and got to her house for a visit then we were walking home around 6:45 p.m.
I was getting cold so Bows and I started running down the last block before our's when I heard a deep dog bark and saw a dog shoot out between two houses across the street from where we were. I stopped dead in my tracks, jerked Bows back on her leash to my feet and picked her up ASAP! As I turned my head I saw a tan pit bull barking furiously at us. My first reaction was "Shit! What do I do?" Then I saw the dog had stopped at the curb and was not approaching us...so I slowly began to walk away from the dog and luckily Bows did not bark. (Personally I think her hearing is getting worse and she did not hear the dog barking. Plus other dogs are not her thing...she's a people dog.)
I made it down the block walking on shaky legs before I turned around. I did not see the pit bull anymore, so I scampered across some neighbor's yards and high tailed it into the house. I think I was a bit shaky for quite a while, because you hear all the media reports of pit bulls attacking and killing people.
From now on, Matt gets to come on our after dark walks.
