This weekend went by so quickly that I forgot about the Saturday of craziness!
On Saturday morning I was in Omaha and I decided to come home because of the "blizzard" predictions. So, I headed home and got to Sioux City around 2 p.m. It was super windy, so I had both hands on the wheel as I listened to my Janet Evanovich book on CD "Hard Eight".
I got home, let the dog out and was trying on my new outfits when pop the light in the front bedroom went out. The computer was still on, so I looked and it had switched to battery power. I went from room to room and we had no power at all, so I looked for the MidAmerican Energy phone number and could not find an old bill or the number in the phone book. Finally my mom found it on one of her old bills.
I called and the power said it be restored at 3 p.m., but it did not come back on until 4:30 p.m. So the dog and I took a nap under tons of covers to stay warm.
Then that night Matt and I were dogsitting for Honey, Aaron's golden lab, and we had let both dogs out the front door. Honey came running back into the porch so I said "Quick shut the door, she's all wet." Matt shut the front door and just as we were going back into the house we realized that our door locks automatically. Yikes! We were locked out with no cell phones and it was a blizzard outside. Luckily, I had slippers on so I ran next door to use the neighbor ladies' phone and my dad brought over what he thought was our spare house key. No such luck, David had the only spare key and it was at Target with him.
My dad and I ran to Target where I got the key and we finally got back inside. By this time my feet were frozen! I could hardly feel them, so I piled on the socks and let Honey sit on my toes.
Luckily, Sunday went a lot better and Matt even bought his suit for the wedding. He's gonna look pretty dashing! :-)
