The non-stop ride

On Tuesday, Matthew took my car to college because his truck would not start (darn Diesel!). So I got up early to warm up our classic '79 Chevy Malibu wagon (ours looks similiar to the car in the above photo). Now I have never had a love for this car. As far as I am concerned, it needs more work than it's worth, but it was Matthew's grandpa's car, so he has a soft spot for it. The good thing is that it only has 60,000 miles on it whereas my 2008 SUV has over 40,000 miles.
But, the Malibu is not always the most safe vehicle and while I was driving to South Sioux City for a leadership conference I thought the car was not stopping well but it was a snowy, icy morning. It got me home then to exercise class, but as I was leaving exercise class the car kept sliding while I was hitting the breaks!!! And, it kept on sliding into Lakeport St. in front of oncoming traffic that was luckily far enough back that I did not get t-boned. Oh MY GOSH!!!!!!!! Talk about one of the scariest things I have experienced.
Of course, I called Matt to tell him what happened and he goes "Yeah I don't think the rear brakes are working and the front ones are shot." WTF!?! Now Matthew has an ultimatum....get rid of the car or I will!

I literally laughed out loud when I read this. I can picture Matt saying that about the brakes, in a very matter-of-fact way.
