Chicago Girls' Weekend Trip: Part II (The Food)

One thing we did not forget to do was eat. I feel like we ate our way around the city of Chicago. We hit up many great restaurants including going to Gino's East Side for Chicago Style Pizza on our first night in town. (I did not partake in the pizza, but it looked great!)

We ate breakfast in our rooms each morning (great Trader Joe's right by our hotel). So our next meal was lunch at the Gran Lux Cafe.

We got hummus and pitas for an appetizer then I ordered the Sloppy Joe. I think I ate 3 bites and was full, but it was good! Nellie's pasta (above) and Betsy's pasta (below).

Jennifer ordered a Club Sandwich that looked delish.
Then Betsy ordered us some homemade (and warm) chocolate chip-pecan cookies.

Of course, I found room for one. :-)
We had dinner that night at the John Hancock Tower's Lounge on the 96th floor.

We had 2 appetizers, fruit, and a dessert to share amongst the four of us.

In the afternoon we walked to the Navy Pier, so we each bought some Garrett's Popcorn.

I bought my Dad some Caramel Crisp with pecans, so I had to sample it.

The next day we split up and Betsy and I had sandwiches at Potbellie's.

Then we went to dinner at Adobo in Old Town.

They make guacamole right next to your table.

I was sick of eating out at this point,

so I ordered a spinach salad with almonds, green beans and red peppers.

It was nice to eat just veggies. :-)

Nellie got chicken casoulet with tortillas.
Betsy got seafood enchiladas.
Jennifer got enchiladas with mole sauce.
On our last day we had time for lunch before heading to the airport.

So we had lunch in Chinatown.

It was soooo yummy!

This was a sample menu at one restaurant. Crab or duck anyone?

Betsy got beef with noodles in oyster sauce.
I got my usual Sweet and Sour Chicken.

Again, way too much food, but good!
Nellie got Honey Chicken.
Jennifer got chicken with veggies and rice in brown sauce.
Nellie also got a pineapple-strawberry smoothie and Betsy got a mango smoothie.
We definitely enjoyed the good eats in Chicago!
