This was one of the busiest weekends we have had in a long time (minus travel weekends).
On Friday we went to see the Sergeant Bluff High School's play (that was directed by my boss, and Matthew helped with the set construction). It was a funny play and the students did a great job.
On Saturday we got up and got to work on the kitchen!
Little did we know the easiest part would be removing the countertop.
Bows was always close by keeping an eye on the action.
After removing the sink and countertop we waited for the counter to be delivered, did laundry, cleaned and got pots ready to plant my new finds--lavendar, basil and Roma tomato plants.
Once the countertop arrived Matthew and I carried it into the house and discovered it did not fit! There were three spots that were cut incorrectly.
We called it quits around 9 p.m. on Saturday night and planned to start on it Sunday after church.
After getting the countertop guy back to our house Matthew did lots of cuts and swearing to get it to fit.
Also, I decided to clean out and reorganize my closet. I enlisted the help of my brother to install new poles for my clothes to hang on. We have small, old closets so it's hard to see everything you own. David is really tall, so I need to stand on a chair to reach my top layer of clothes.
I finally potted my plants. I plant to put the basil and lavendar in the kitchen once we get it finished.
Then I got to work cleaning our old sink. We had bought a new sink, but it is bent! Yes, a brand new sink came out of the box bent. So we are returning that old sink and reusing our current one. We are putting a new faucet, which will update the look of our sink.
Matthew also managed to smoke some beef ribs on Sunday, I went to help at tear down for the Sergeant Bluff play, he drove to South Sioux City to bid on a lawn clean-up/mowing job, and we crashed around 9 p.m. when I proceed to wash dishes in my bathtub.
Life is good.
