The annual Race for Hope was held on Saturday at the Adam's Nature Preserve. The event raises money for the June E. Nylen Cancer Center to provide the latest equipment, comfortable seating and lots more for cancer patients. I am very proud to serve on this committee and to be able to enjoy the new amenities as a patient. Each year my family, husband and friends join in and this year was a great time-weatherwise. (Usually every 3 years we get good weather and hallelujah this year it was the good year!)
My friends Betsy, Chris, Jennifer and Nellie came to walk along with my parents Dennis and Nancy and my brother David plus my 3-year old Yorkie Tootsie. My husband Matthew ran the 5K again (with no training).
Matthew and I arrived early to wear "Ask Me" shirts to direct people to the registration table, restrooms or anything they needed. The one question asked often was "Where is a map of the course?" (Perhaps next year we can distribute maps?)
I am excited to find out how much money was raised by the Race for Hope! It's a great cause and I'd love to add more friends to our team next year for walking!
