M.O.M.: A Series (Part 1: Teresa)

This is the first part in the series M.O.M. This time I feature a friend who lives in Atlanta. Teresa was the reporter at the Dakota County Star when I was hired to replace her. Teresa and a friend were taking a leap of faith and moving to Atlanta to start a new life. I was lucky enough to stay in touch with Teresa and we have seen each other once since she's moved away (in 2004!). Thanks to Facebook we've been able to stay in touch and we both had babies within a month of each other in 2013. Here are Teresa's answers to all my mom questions.

1) Name and Age -
Teresa, 33

2) Kids' Ages -
1

3) When did you first relate to the word Mom?
Not until she was born; needed to feel her in my arms. I felt very protective and knew that immediately that I'd do anything in the world for her.

4) What is your favorite aspect of motherhood?
Her laughter and kisses. She's very "busy," so when she takes a quick moment to give me affection.

5) What is your least favorite aspect of motherhood?
Being strict and not giving her what she wants every time; I know it's best but hate seeing those tears.

6) Who is a mom you idolize/look up to/admire?
My own mom, hands down.

7) Do you think moms ever get enough sleep?
Yes, sometimes. We have a good sleeper and my husband gets up with her at least one day on the weekends so I can sleep in until 8.

8) What advice do you have for new moms?
Learn to swaddle, get a sound machine, and teach them to self-soothe after a couple months. And that showering is over-rated!

9) What is your easiest go-to dinner?
Homemade pizza.

10) What is your favorite non-mom thing to do?
Go out to dinner with just my hubby and eat popcorn while I watch Dexter or Scandal on Netflix!

Thanks Teresa! Stay tuned for more M.O.M. interviews!
