After another brutal night of Behrend waking up multiple times we survived a busy day and enjoyed the beautiful sunshine!
We packed a picnic lunch and drove to Custer State Park. We had high hopes of seeing buffalo, but it is so green and lush in the hills that the buffalo are staying away from the roads.
Upon entering the park we stopped at Legion Lake. Graham, David, Matthew and I with Behrend in the Ergo carrier hiked around the lake while Nana and Poppa hung out on the beach. We ate our picnic lunch then Graham and Matthew got into the water. It was a bit chilly for me!
We drove around the wildlife loop in search of buffalo and saw just a few animals. Then we drove back to Hill City via Needles Highway. It was a long day of driving, but so pretty!
Keep looking for days 4 and 5!
