When I met Matthew in November of 2006 he had gotten out of the U.S. Army after a 4-year term that included one tour of duty in Iraq and three years based in Hawaii. He then signed up for WIT's one-year welding program and went to work at Menards. (However, he was not cut out for retail.) After earning his welding degree he went to work at the SC Foundry before moving onto a job at Besser. Due to the economy and budget cuts, Matthew was laid off in January 2009. At that time he decided to go back to school again for a four-year degree in Industrial Technology Education and began to mow/push snow fulltime. Now it's 2012 and he's almost done with school. He will student teach at Akron Westfield School before earning a teaching contract in January 2013.
Matthew has his own office, which I plan to decorate with photos of me. :-)
He also has a classroom with a white board that I made sure to write "Mr. Jongeling" on.
And, a large woods shop, welding shop and storage room.
I am very excited and proud of all his hard work. It has paid off and he found a job in a wonderful school district not far from home. Congrats Matthew!
