Thanksgiving Plans

When Matthew and I first started dating we did not celebrate the holidays together. We each went to our own sides festivities for Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter.  Then we moved in together and started sharing our holidays. But we soon realized that rushing from family to family, and eating two huge meals in one day is not a good idea.  I think the real kicker was the year Matthew ate so much that he did not have room for pie.

So now we take turns celebrating the holidays with our families and it's much more relaxing and fun.  This year we celebrate Easter and Thanksgiving with my side, so next year we will celebrate those with Matthew's side.  For Christmas we celebrate with Matthew's family on Christmas Eve with dinner at our house and church.  On Christmas Day we are going to my parents' house to celebrate with my mom's side then we will celebrate with my dad's side the weekend after Christmas.

It seems to work well for everyone and then Matthew can still eat pie. This year we've been working on our menu since it will be me, Matthew, my brother, my parents, my grandparents and our good friend Jolene (8 people + 1 dog).

I plan to make one of these cute treats for table place settings and our menu is written below.

I love to have leftover sweet potatoes and cranberries, so we are going to have big batches of those.  I hope you have great Thanksgiving plans.
