The Pre-Baby To Do List

Last weekend I started thinking that we should make some plans for the Pre-Baby To Do List. Meaning we only have 8 weeks (or possibly less depending when Baby L.J. decides to make an appearance) to get our stuff in order.  I think we've done pretty well getting some things checked off the list, but there are many more things we need to figure out.

1) Baby clothes-- I went through all of Baby L.J.'s clothes last weekend and I realized we do not have a lot of 0-9 month size clothes, especially onsies. I really need to purchase some onsies--long and short sleeve.  The good news is that what we have purchased is washed. We use non-scented hypoallergenic laundry detergent because of Matthew's sensitive skin, so I've just been throwing in our baby items with our regular clothes to wash.  (I have been picky about the clothes, because I don't like the ones that say "My Mommy/Daddy/Grandma/Dog Loves Me".  I am more of a fan of plain clothes without wording.)

2) Diapers--I am really leaning towards cloth diapers, but in case that does not work out for us I know we need some disposables.   I found a great deal at Target for Pampers Swaddlers.  I had $6 off in coupons plus if you bought two you got a $5 Target gift card. And, from Matthew's cousin Jenn we have a diaper cake that I can disassemble and use, but it's just so cute!

3)  A rocking chair or gilder for the nursery--We have looked at quite a few places for a rocker/glider.  My grandparents want to purchase this for the baby gift, but the only one I found that I really like was $579 for the chair and $279 for the foot stool.  I did find a really funky retro chair at my favorite consignment shop that I am considering. It's very Young House Love-ish.  If all else fails we have a rocker in our living room that we can switch to the nursery.

4)  Finishing the nursery--We've gotten it painted and the furniture put together, but now we need to finish the wood around the windows and hang up room darkening shades.  Then hang up all the artwork and photos.  I want to frame a baby picture of me and one of Matthew then put up one of Baby L.J.  And, I'd like to line the drawers of the dresser with some cute liner.
