I know each day with Graham is a bit different, but I thought I'd do a day in the life post so I can remember what it was like to have an almost 6-week old.
6:00 - 7:30 a.m. -- Graham wakes me up with a loud cry to announce he is hungry. Tootsie also wakes me up to say she has to go outside to do her business AND she wants to eat. I quickly let her out, run to the restroom, feed the dog, and get Graham up. I change his diaper and feed him before he gets too hungry.
7:30 - 9:00 a.m. -- Once he's fed, Graham and I play for a bit then I go make my breakfast while he lays in his play gym and looks at his colorful toys. I usually make a bowl of oatmeal with some malted milk powder mixed in (helps increase milk supply) with chopped apples on top. I switched to no dairy, so I am using unsweetened vanilla almond milk and love it.
9:00 - 10:30 a.m. -- Graham takes his first nap of the day. I either take a nap myself or I run around getting dressed, doing dishes, put a load of laundry in, and log onto the computer to check my e-mail and Facebook.
10:30 a.m. - Noon -- Graham wakes up and we repeat the change diaper, eat and play cycle.
Noon - 1:30 p.m. -- Graham goes down for his second nap and I make my lunch. Usually a turkey sandwich, chips and fruit or I love the BBQ Beef hot pockets. (Since I am nursing I am always hungry, so I tend to snack quite a bit throughout the day.)
1:30 - 3:00 p.m. -- Graham wakes up and we repeat the change diaper, eat and play cycle.
3:00 - 4:30 p.m. -- Graham takes his third nap of the day and this is when it gets hard to get him to go down, but once he does he could sleep forever. I think the get up and down schedule wears him out by this time.
4:30 - 6:00 p.m. -- Graham wakes up and we repeat the diaper change, eat and play cycle. Matthew comes home and Graham gets to play with his dad while I make dinner. (Lovin' the crockpot right now.)
6:00 - 10:00 p.m. -- Our goal is to keep Graham awake this entire time so he will sleep through the night. He usually falls asleep around 7-8 p.m. Then we give him a bath, put on his pajamas and spend time playing and rocking before bedtime. Graham is definitely growing right now, so he eats about every hour during the evening (cluster feeding). I also try to sneak out to take Tootsie for a walk, because the poor dog is very bored during the day.
10:00 p.m. -- I get into bed as soon as Graham goes down, so I can get lots of sleep.
2:30 - 3:00 a.m. -- Graham wakes up to eat and get a diaper change and I lay him back down to sleep usually within 30-40 minutes.
6:00 - 7:30 a.m. -- The cycle starts all over.
**We plan to use this sleep training until Graham is 12 weeks or when he transitions to longer naps and awake periods.
