Resolute to make a resolution

So, I have decided to start making my New Year's resolutions early. That way I am not scrambling at the last minute to say something inane like "I want to lose 15 pounds" or "I want world peace." :-)
I have even started bugging Matt about what his resolutions will be. He said he tries not to make any, but his first one that came to mind was "To clean the basement."

So far, I have come up with:
1) For Matt and I to travel somewhere via airplane. (We've done the family vacation, the long drive and the short trips, but we have never gone up in a little plane in the sky. I am thinking Vegas or Hawaii sound like awesome destinations.)

2) To really get healthy. (I have a few more pounds I'd like to shed, but overall, I want to become healthier. Work out more, eat better and not get any nasty colds/flu.)

3) To not shop as often. (I have a really BAD addiction to shopping. I blame my genes b/c my mom and grandma are lovers of shopping. So, since I now have a bit higher car payment I need to curb my Kohls/Younkers/JC Penny/Old Navy addictions. I started by getting rid of my debit card and opening a checking account with only checks. One person asked me "How will that work? What will you do for money?" Umm....I believe before those awful debit cards were created people went to the bank to withdraw money and cash checks. "Ohh...is that how that works?" Ha!)

4) To eat more meals at home. (I get really tired of eating out and Matt is helpful b/c he'd usually rather eat at home. So, my goal is to only eat out two or three times a month. But, I do have this awful addiction to Chinese food...however, this could help me with resolution #2.)

5) To really clean out the house and basement and hold a garage sale in May. (This one I am going to accomplish with the help of Matt and my parents and Lacey. Please come buy our pre-owned valuables in May!)

That's all I have for now, but I am sure I will have more to add later on this week including some about the Young Survivor's Cancer Support Group. Happy New Year! See you all in 2009!
