Winter memories

When we get lots of snow it always reminds me of winter memories.
In college, Betsy and I were supposed to go on a retreat for community service to Okoboji. It got cancelled, because of weather, but we had to get off campus. So, we piled into Betsy's car and headed north to the Spencer mall. It was okay until we got north of Sioux Rapids and it was complete white out.
Should we have turned around?
Yes. But, we love shopping!
We made it home okay, but it was touch and go for awhile.

Another time, Betsy and I were visiting her family in Lincoln. It was really bad outside, so we thought we should leave early Sunday morning. However, I had driven my little white Dodge Neon and we slipped all the way back to Storm Lake. Let's just say I-80 between Omaha and Lincoln was scary!

When I was first driving I had a 3-cylinder Geo Spectrum. One time David and I were coming home from school and tried to stop at the bottom of Bushnell Ave. to turn onto S. Lyons. Well, we did not stop, but I got turned and we hit the neighbor's mailbox. Good thing it was there to stop us!

Last winter, I remember Matt called to tell me he had flipped his truck! Good Lord! He, Jon and Aaron were out playing in the snow and tried to jump a ditch. The truck landed on the driver's side and Aaron landed on top of Matt (Aaron was not wearing his seatbelt). They were okay, but the truck still suffers from a missing side-view mirror and there is a lot of air coming in the doors.

I also did a doughnut with my little PT the other day when some guy was riding my tail, so I turned a corner quick and hit the curb. Let's just say I spun quick and stopped. Luckily no one was around!
