Making time for "me"

Every year I say I will say "no" to more activities, trips, and plans, but I love to be involved in lots of stuff. I think that comes from being so nosey...it's in my nature...and I like to know lots of people. As I learned tonight during Matt's and my classes with the minister, I get energy from being around other people. However, I have begun to notice that I do not leave a lot of "me" time. I have three calendars....one for the Community Development dept., one for my office and one that I carry with me at all times and each month is jammed full of appointments and committments. Sometimes I even have to schedule Matthew into my schedule, so I can be sure to eat dinner at home with him at least one night a week. That is just crazy!
So, imagine if that's what it's like to see my fiancee then you know I have like no "me" time. So I am adding a late New Year's resolution: "To make more time for myself. To spend time alone and reflect on my life and what I am enjoying about "now"...not in 5 minutes, 5 days or 5 months."
To kick things off I went to my fav. sandwich place (Quizno's) and got my lunch then went to Grandview Park to eat by myself and enjoy the beautiful day. I really enjoyed my food and felt way more relaxed.
I think this will also help me at work, because I am in a cubicle and everyone who wants to can pop in, plus I can hear the extremely loud transit women talking all day. So I recommend everyone take a few minutes of "me" time every day, especially people with kids. I can't imagine how hard it is to find a minute to yourself when you have kids, I have a hard enough time and I just have a dog. :-)

That pastor guy is one smart dude. You are one of the busiest people I know. Don't miss out on one of the happiest times of your life (getting married!) by being too busy with other stuff. Enjoy your fiance, because he's only your fiance for a VERY short time!
