Well, it's official, the honeymoon is over and it's time to go back to reality. :-) Aww shucks!
But, at least we have some great memories to keep with us for the rest of our marriage. The weekend of our wedding was a lot of fun, because there is so much to see and do. My cousins and great aunts from California were here to visit along with Beau, Amy and Diego from Connecticut.
I had Friday off, so I took the three cousins up to lunch at Bob's Drive In in LeMars, Iowa. Then we ventured across the street to Blue Bunny for some bunny items and ice cream. Mom and I had a 2 p.m. pedicure/manicure appt. at Belle Touche. They do such a good job on nails and it was a fun treat, especially since we usually go to the cheaper nail salons. My mom put her foot down b/c she was convinced the last time we went the Korean lady who did her pedicure kept calling her fat in Korean.
That evening Emily VanNorman came to visit and she graciously washed my hair, so I did not mess up my nails then she took me to Chick Fil A for dinner b/c Matthew was still working. Matt's army buddy Jordan Felt arrived at our house that evening and a bunch of us went for drinks to Jolly Rogers that evening.
The day of the wedding, I was up and at the Final Touch at 9 a.m. to get my hair done with my mom and Matt's mom. We headed to breakfast at HyVee afterwards then went to my parent's house to set up for the wedding. I was so impressed by the weather and kept my fingers crossed that it would stay nice and non-humid. Thankfully it did!
After greeting our guests, Matthew and I were married in front of friends and family in a 10-minute ceremony (Jolene timed it for us-ha!). The rest of the night is a bit of a blur of hugs, kisses, well wishes and of course, croquet! I had a great time and will remember our wedding day forever.
The next morning, Matthew took me to Perkins for breakfast then we had a gift opening at our house with relatives and friends. We received some really neat presents like a homemade quilt, a gurgle pot and of course, Fiesta Ware!
We left Monday for our honeymoon and ended up in the Grand Tetons and Yellowstone. It is beautiful out there, but we put 2,400 miles on the car, so I am glad to be home for a bit. :-) (We did see lots of nature--a black bear, baby moose, lots of buffalo and 6 Bald Eagles.)
