I am in a book club. I love to read and eat and talk, so book club is the best thing for this gal.
We just finished reading the book "The Help" and we went to see the movie version.
I think "The Help" is one of my favorite books ever. I felt like I knew each of the characters, and it was a great way to find out some history about Mississippi.
The movie was a great adaptation, but I really loved the book.
Now I am reading "One Day", because I really want to go see the movie. I think Anne Hathaway is a great actress. However, I am having trouble getting through this book. It takes place in England and the English dialect is a bit different from us Americans. But, I plan to persevere, so I can see the movie.
A few friends who attend Sioux City and Omaha book clubs have recommended we read "Room." I don't know if I will read it on my own, but it sounds like it could have interesting discussion.
The October pick for our book club is "The House of the Spirits", which is an older book that has been made into a movie (with some well known actors/actresses). I have not started it yet, but I think it has a bit of love, drama, incest, talking to spirits. You know, the usual.
Do you have any recommendations for a good read?
