25 Questions: Holiday Style


•Eggnog or hot chocolate?

I am not a huge fan of either, but I'd pick hot chocolate.  The more marshmallows the better!


•Does Santa wrap presents or just sit them under the tree?

He wraps them!

•Colored lights on tree/house or white?

White Lights on the tree and colored lights on the outside of the house.
•Do you hang mistletoe?

No, but I should find some. My Grandma always hung some mistletoe in her kitchen doorway on Nicollet Street. I wonder what happend to that mistletoe?
•When do you hang your decorations up?


Whenever I feel like it. This year I did a few weeks before Thanksgiving.

•What is your favorite holiday dish (excluding dessert)?

My mom always made monkey bread on Christmas morning or egg casserole. Otherwise I get into the cookies.

•Favorite holiday memory as a child?

Walking over to Cherrywood and Applewood to see the Christmas lights when we lived on Lemon Street.
•What is on your Christmas wish list?

A jewelry box, an immersion blender, healthy food cookbooks, and good health.

•Do you open a gifts on Christmas Eve?


We open presents with Matt's immediate family on Christmas Eve then do my mom's side on Christmas Day and the LaBrune side on another day, sometimes Christmas night.

•How do you decorate your Christmas tree?

Red and gold ball ornaments this year. And red/gold garland.

•Snow? Love it or dread it?

Love it at Christmas. Everyone wants a white Christmas.

•Real tree or fake tree?

Fake, but I'd like to try a real tree one year.

•Do you remember your favorite gift?

I remember my first Cabbage Patch Doll.  But my parents made me a Barbie dollhouse and it was awesome.

•What’s the most important thing about Christmas for you?

Spending time with my family and friends.
•What is your favorite holiday dessert?

I love any dessert, we don't have a special one each year.

•What is your favorite tradition?

One is my girls' weekend present exchange. Otherwise shopping the day after Christmas with the VanNorman's is fun.

•What tops your tree?


A gold/red star.

•Do you prefer giving or receiving?

Giving! I start shopping early...like Dec. 26th for next year.

•What is your favorite Christmas song?

Little Drummer Boy or Mary Did You Know

•Candy canes, yuck or yum?

They are minty so yuck.

•Favorite Christmas movie?


National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation. My family quotes this movie year round.

•What did you leave for Santa?

Cookies.

•Do you have a Christmas morning tradition?

We always had to wait until like 8 a.m. to wake up my parents when we were little. But my brother would get up around 3 a.m. to check out his presents from Santa then he'd run into wake me up. 

•Do you prefer to shop on-line or at the mall?


At the mall!

•Christmas letter or Christmas card?

Both with a photo, too!
