A visit to Des Moines

On Friday we packed up the Dodge and headed down I-29 bound for Des Moines. Our destination? A wedding! The friend I have had the longest....Miss Erin O'Brien....was headed down the aisle for matrimonial bliss to Mr. Josh and they had a beautiful wedding at Walnut Woods State Park. Of course, it had to downpour right before the wedding, but it still turned out to be a great night and Graham managed to stay up way past his bedtime (regularly 7:30 p.m.....but he was up until 8:45 p.m.) and was in a good mood!

Matthew entertained Graham while we waited for the nuptials to begin.

The whole LaBrune familia was at the wedding!

Erin was a beautiful bride. She is such a genuine person and always makes me laugh.

Then he started to get sleepy, but he loved watching the little girls on the dance floor.

On Saturday we ventured downtown for the Des Moines Farmers' Market, which is better than any cities market that I have been to. Even Erin's cousin said the DM one is better than the Kansas City farmers' market.

This ice cream was being made by a tractor! Matthew and I tried the Maple Bacon.

Graham took a milk break, too.

We tried to go through the historical museum, but Graham had a breakdown and we knew it was naptime. We went back to the motel for a 2-hour nap. Matthew and I caught up on some HGTV and ate Wendy's chicken nuggets in the dark room.

Then it was back home on Sunday to celebrate Matthew's first Father's Day. We ate steak and chicken kabobs and blueberry pie and went for a long family walk. We also picked up Tootsie from Happy Tails. She was so tired from all of her playing that she just layed on the floor all night. All in all it was a good weekend and we have a great little traveler.
