The End of the Pacifier

We knew it was coming, but we were not quite expecting Graham's last pacifier to break this week. We figured we'd do a pacifier send off or something fun around his second birthday. Alas, Graham learned how to chew on his pacifiers and the plastic broke making it unsafe so we had to throw away his last orange pacifier just two weeks shy of his second birthday.

Holy hell! It has not been fun at nap time without a pacifier! Bedtime he gets so tired that he will cry for a bit then fall asleep, but naps are another story. He will scream, cry, throw fits and just be a big stinker. Graham is also learning some great stalling techniques. My favorite is the "more food" one. He literally will say "orange" then eat an orange, then "apple" and eat an apple, "banana" then eat a banana and so on until I say "That is enough fruit for one day kid!"

We tried no nap one day, but the kid still needs a nap or he is a bear by dinnertime. And, steer clear of his melon when he's having a mega tantrum. That thing is dangerous!

Graham is smart and he knows his paci broke, but that still does not mean he is going to like having no pacifier. I am hoping in a week or two he will learn how to self soothe and just lay down for a nap, but who knows....we are entering the terrible two's territory and only time will tell. Until things settle down, wish us luck!

And, here is a flashback video of baby Graham. So cute!
