Budgets, meal planning and fun

(I'm really wishing for green grass right now!)

This winter has been very hard weatherwise, but Matt and I have had so much to keep us busy that it is going by fast. And, sometimes when it goes by too fast we end up eating out more than we should and we can tell by our empty wallets and bulging tummies. So, I have decided to start planning our meals and I will know exactly what to get at the store and hopefully, not overspend. Here is our list of upcoming meals:

Jan. 26 Leftover Chili/Cinnamon Rolls

Jan. 27 Goulash/Green Beans/Leftover Corn Bread (make ahead meal)

Jan. 28 Soup and Sandwiches

Jan. 29 Homemade Pizza/Chips/Fruit

Jan. 30 Dinner out (Date night)

Jan. 31 Baked Honey Chicken/Stuffing (marinate chicken the day before)

Feb. 1 Pork Chops w/Sauerkraut in Crockpot/Fruit

Feb. 2 Spaghetti w/Sausage/Garlic Bread

Feb. 3 Leftovers

Feb. 4 Matt's Birthday (His mom is making homemade lasagna)

Feb. 5 Birthday celebration with my family (TBA)

Feb. 6 Rockestra (Betsy here/Dinner out)

Feb. 7 Matt's Superbowl Birthday Party with the guys (I am making chili, cheese dip, chips/crackers and David is bringing homemade amaretto cheesecake) (make ahead meal)

Feb. 8 Leftovers

Feb. 9 Meatloaf/Mashed Potatoes/Vegetable (make ahead meal)

Feb. 10 Chicken Spaghetti/Garlic Bread (make ahead meal)

Feb. 11-12 I am in Des Moines so Matt is on his own w/leftovers

Feb. 13 Chicken Tacos

Feb. 14 Valentines Day! Steak w/salad and potatoes

Feb. 15-16 I am in Des Moines AGAIN, so Matt is on his own

I have also decided I am giving up shopping for the month of February. This will be very hard when we are in Des Moines, but really I don't need anything and I would rather save money for a trip this spring. Matt does not think I can make it a month, but I am determined to show him I will do it!
