In December, my Mom, Miss Lauri and I had great plans to go to Omaha to spend the night at Katie's house. Well, the weather had other plans and I-29 was closed. So we postponed until this weekend and the weather was very cooperative. We arrived in Omaha in time for us to chat (see Katie and Mom above) and Miss Lauri (below) got busy whipping up a butterscotch pie.

Jan. 30 happens to be Brian's birthday and his favorite pie was butterscotch. Lauri told me she'd make him one every year for his birthday.

The pie turned out beautiful!

The mom's thought they were being creative and bought us matching Christmas sweaters from K-Mart to wear in December. Since we did not get together then we had to wait to open our sweaters this weekend and they were a huge hit! (Katie was not a big fan of the birds.)

Emily loved her sweater!

Mom, Miss Lauri, Emily, Katie and I modeling our new Christmas bird sweaters. So cute!

We also ate our way around Omaha besides making pies and shopping. We had lunch at Old Chicago then went to dinner at The Venic Cafe, which is a local Omaha restaurant owned by the Caniglia family. (Check out the awesome keyboard/singer that was in the lounge area.) Yum-o! We all had pizza and salad bar. Then we went to the late showing of "The King's Speech." A feel-good movie that taught me some history of the royal family. We tried to go to the early show first, but there were no seats!

The best part of the weekend was when Miss Lauri stumped the bartender at The Venice Cafe. Lauri ordered a brass monkey and the lady (who was about 90 years old) said she'd never been stumped before. :-)
Thanks for hosting us Katie and Nick!
