M.O.M.: A Series (Part 7: Jerilynne)

This is the 7th part in a series about my mom friends from near and far and I am featuring Jerilynne. Jerilynne is a new friend who happens to be my parents' neighbor. She is a stay-at-home mom of two boys and she watches her nephew, too. Jerilynne is a bargain shopper and she makes a great lunch on playdate visits. We always have fun together and Graham is so excited when he sees Jagger and Memphis!

1) Name and Age: Jeri Lynne, 31

2) Kids' Ages: Jagger, 2 1/2 years, Memphis, 9 months

3) When did you first relate to the word Mom? (Was it when someone called you mom? When you took your first pregnancy test?) Explain how you felt.: At my first ultrasound when the lady called me momma.

4) What is your favorite aspect of motherhood?: My favorite aspect of motherhood is knowing my little guys need me, and being able to be a stay at home mom. Although some days I wish I had a job outside the home.

5) What is your least favorite aspect of motherhood?: Not being able to just get up and go whenever I want.

6) Who is a mom you idolize/look up to/admire?: I look up to any mother with 3 or more kids. I have 2 boys and couldn't imagine anymore. They are very good boys, just close in age and are ALWAYS busy.

7) Do you think moms ever get enough sleep?: I know I lack big time in that area, not sure about others.

8) What advice do you have for new moms?: Not to be afraid to ask for help when needed. I didn't for either one of my boys and they are big time mommy boys. Which makes it hard to do much without them. One or the other or all three(3rd is the dog) are always following behind me wherever I go. (And, if you have a boy make sure you push his pee pee down when you put his diaper on otherwise he will end up peeing out of his diaper.)

9) What is your easiest go-to dinner?: Anything cooked in my Deep Covered Baker from Pampered Chef. A lot of the recipe's are done in the microwave. My kind of meals is there isn't much preparation and doesn't have to cook for very long. (Sarah's chicken and rice casserole is also a very fast and good recipe.--See recipe below.)

10) What is your favorite non-mom thing to do? (Shop, eat, read, etc.?): Well I don't get much non-mom time so If I get to go to Walmart for baby stuff or the grocery store I'm happy. I can't even tell you the last time I've been out on the town. When it comes down to it my boys are my world and I wouldn't change it for anything.

Thanks Jeri Lynne! (I totally agree about #8 and having the dog follow you around. Tootsie is my ever present shadow! And, here is the chicken and rice casserole recipe. We actually ate it for dinner last night!

Vina's Chicken Casserole

2 chicken breasts, cooked and chopped
1 can cream of chicken soup
1 can cream of mushroom soup
1 can water chestnuts
1 pkg. long grain wild rice (I use the instant....think it's Uncle Ben's)
1 c. water
diced onion (optional)

Mix together and top with a package of dry onion soup mix. Bake at 350 for 40-60 minutes. You can put cheese on top, too! Enjoy!
