Old Wives Tales (Pick the Gender)

As most of you have heard...Matthew and I decided to be surprised again with Baby LJ #2! After all, there are only 19 weeks left of the unknown, so why not have a little fun?

I have a feeling I already know what we're having but there's always a fifty-fifty chance! So of course I've been scouring the internet looking up gender prediction tests and found these ten old wives tales that I thought would be fun to share!

1. High or Low? Rumor has it that if you are carrying your baby high, it's a girl. Carrying low? Stock up on blue.

I'd say I'm carrying low. (But this could be because my stomach muscles are more stretched from Graham's pregnancy. Plus I carried Graham super high and he was a boy. Hmm...)

2. Body Clues? Legends say that if you are having a little girl, she'll steal your beauty. So, if you've got acne and other not-so-pretty skin blemishes, you've got a little princess coming your way. Dry hands and cold feet are signs of a boy. So, if you've got these ailments, break out the baby blue.

This one is a toss up, my skin hasn't been the best but my hands are dry and my feet are cold - then again it has been a long, dry winter...

3. Circle or Side to Side? Take off your wedding ring, tie it to a piece of string, and hang it over your belly. If it swings in a circle, you are promised a boy; back and forth indicates a girl.

First of all, who has string? I did not do this one.

4. The Drano Test - This one is as old as it is weird. The mom-to-be is required to pee in a cup, and mix in a tablespoon of Drano. If the liquid turns green, you're having a girl. Blue? You guessed it. It's a boy.

This was inconclusive because I didn't do it. I mean no, just no people. Plus I do not have any Drano in my house.

5. Heartbeat baby! Your baby's heart rate might be an indicator of its gender. If your little one's heart rate is under 140 beats per minute, you're having a little boy. If it's over, get ready for your little girl!

At my last appointment baby's heartbeat was at a steady 148.

6. Sweet or Salty? Craving sweets? According to some, that means your going to have a little girl. Salty and sour cravings indicate a boy.

Salty foods definitely sounded better to me, but they also did during my pregnancy with Graham.

7. Chinese Birth Chart - Chinese birth charts use your age at conception and the month you conceived to determine the sex of your baby.

According to mine, baby #2 is a girl!

8. Sympathy Symptoms? If your hubby packs on a little sympathy weight, the tales say you're in for a sugary-sweet little girl.

Hmm....Matthew has said he's packed on a few pounds lately. But he is working out more and drinking light beer. Ha!

9. Morning Sickness? If you're stricken with a queasy stomach during your first trimester, think ribbons and bows. If you sail through your pregnancy with nary an upset stomach, it's blue all the way.

I was nauseous more this time than the last one, but not overly sick. Just a bit burpy/erpy.

10. Clumsy or Graceful? If a pregnant woman is graceful throughout her pregnancy, it's a girl. If she becomes clumsy, she's having a boy.

I'm clumsy when I'm not pregnant! Just ask my husband.

Although these are fun to read and do, I put no weight on any of these "predictors". And honestly - I'd be utterly thrilled with either sex, we're just hoping for a healthy happy baby.
What are you thinking? Will Baby LJ #2 be a boy or girl?
