Rest in Peace Will Jarvis

During my frequent trips to the cancer center, I met a neat couple - Bill and Dorothy Jarvis of Sac City - who typically had treatments on the same day and same time as me. Bill was fighting prostate cancer and had to drive to the "big city" often. His wife Dorothy was the cutest little Grandma-like lady I have met. She was short, with white hair and a big smile. After we talked those few times, she asked if I wanted to exchange addresses and write to each other.
I am glad she suggested that, because I found a great penpal! And, she would send me neat gifts that she made like homemade doilies spelling out "Sarah". I started to send her thread and then asked her to make some gifts for me to give at Christmas, of course I paid her for her time and effort.
Then last month I sent her and Bill at 58th anniversary card. They were married as long as my grandparents. After a while I sent her another letter, then I got one back yesterday. In it were two of the doilies she made for me, a recipe for cookies, a letter and a phamplet from Bill's funeral. I was so sad after reading her letter, because Bill had died the beginning of September. His lungs had filled up with fluid and he was very weak. Bill was 79 years old and Dorothy said he kept fighting against the cancer until he died.
I am grateful I had the opportunity to meet Bill and will continue to communicate with Dorothy.
