Weekend Home Improvements

Ever since Matt and I moved into our new home, every weekend has been full of chores, projects and home improvements. Last weekend involved Matt, his friend Jon and our neighbor Terry removing the massive bushes in front of our home. I wish I had taken some photos of the project, but it was impressive. The roots on the bushes were so deep that the sidewalk shook when Matt used his truck to rip those suckers out of the ground!

This weekend Matt installed a new walk-through door to the garage. It was his first time installing a door and the air was blue at times, but he got it installed and now we have a nice steel door on the garage.

In the meantime, we had a real grandma alert! On Saturday my grandma stopped by then on Sunday his grandma stopped by, so I spent a lot of Saturday cleaning the house, doing laundry, baking cupcakes and doing dishes. I started to set up the attic, which is the extra guest room/craft room. It is going to look so neat. I have always wanted a bedroom upstairs, so maybe I will start sleeping up there-ha! :-)

Then on Sunday I started to rake some leaves in the backyard, but then I decided to do a photo shoot with the dog and stopped raking. Here are some super cute photos of her. She was cold so of course, I had to put her "Born Fabulous" t-shirt on.

Next up for home improvements include re-attaching a gutter, adding insulation to the upstairs, cleaning and organizing the basement and purchasing carpet for our bedroom. I also started to assemble two rockers for our front porch, but I need Matt to tighten the bolts.
And, while I hear people complain about the time and money it costs to do projects, Matt and I are really enjoying doing these projects, because it really gives us a sense of what it takes to be a true "home owner." Those home improvement shows really need to show how many people are in the background doing all the real work. :-)
