Graham -- 10 Days Old

Today Graham is 10 days old! It's hard to believe how quickly time is passing....or it could be the sleep deprivation.  Either way it has been pretty fun and we've been spoiled with tons of visitors.  We went home last Wednesday and Matthew went back to work on Thursday, so my Mom and mother-in-law have come over to help.

Matthew is so laidback with Graham, so I let him do the bathing. Plus his hands are bigger than mine, so it's a bit easier for him to hold him while we are just doing the sponge bath.  Graham is not a fan of baths, but it's also really cold right now.  Hopefully by summer he will love baths.

Emily, Katie, Tom and Miss Lauri stopped over to visit on Saturday.  Of course, Graham would not wake up despite having his feet tickled and squeezing his cheeks. Then as soon as they left he woke up and managed to pee all over himself during a diaper change.

Graham's first car ride (besides coming home from the hospital) was to Great Grandma and Grandpa's house.  They oohed and ahhhed over him and Tootsie.  The only problem on the car ride was Miss Tootsie.  She gets really bad car anxiety, so on the ride over she decided the safest place to sit was on top of Graham in his car seat. Matthew had to pull over so I could get her out of the carseat.  Luckily, Graham did not mind sharing his seat.

On Monday, I took Graham back up to Mercy to get some help with nursing. Our Doula Kathy was working and she's such a calming presence. She gave me some great tips and told me to throw away the nipple shield we were using. It was more of a pain than anything for me, so I am glad we are getting better at nursing without it.

Then Nellie came in the afternoon and turned our house into a photo studio.  Graham had a 3-hour newborn photo shoot and did great.  Nellie was glad she got the shot with his hands underneath his chin.  I can't wait to see the photos and send out birth announcements. (Thanks Nellie!)

Tuesday brought us to the doctor for Graham's first check-up.  At birth he weighed 8 lbs. and was 21 inches long.  At 8 days old he weighed 8 lbs. 9 oz. and measured 22 inches long.  That makes me feel good that he is growing and thriving.  The doctor also said he has great coloring and good reflexes for such a little baby.  We also made stops at Chick Fil-A and Target!
