My Post-Pregnancy Wish List

IMG_5412

The other day my friend Sara posted on Facebook that she'd accomplished one of her third decade goals. (Graduating with her master's degree! Go Sara!)  And, it got me thinking about what my third decade goals are.  After all, I think your twenties are a time when you really discover who you are and have fun whereas the thirties seem to be a time to start having fun and actually being able to afford it!

But, before I start on my third decade bucket list, I'd like to make a "Post-Pregnancy Wish List".  I know I will not be able to accomplish everything and life with a baby will be chaotic (and wonderful), so here's to hoping I can two/thirds of this list!

1) Buy new running shoes AND start training for a half-marathon or a marathon relay team.
(Right, Matthew, Chris and Beau???)  I was running well into my second trimester, but then my running buddy left (Come back Brianna!), so I started walking.  I know I won't start running right after the baby is born, but running is a great time to think and unwind, and I really want to add a 13.1 bumper sticker to my car.  And, I desperately need new running shoes since my swollen feet are wearing out my current pair.

2) Become more thrifty...ie: do not stop at Target every week.
(Now that we have two paychecks --yay Matthew!-- I know it will be tempting to spend more moola, but I am bound and determined to grow our nest egg.  Our first step is to refinance our home and pay off any outstanding debt (my student loans, my car), and I want to actually create and follow a grocery budget.

3) Spend more time at home.
I am the go-go-go type of person and most days that is fine, but I know that once the baby is here I'd like to/will need to be at home more often.  One way I can do this is by entertaining more at home.  I love to have people over for dinner, but I've become a bit lazy in my cooking this year, so I hope to step up my game and in the summer Matthew loves to grill/smoke meat and who doesn't love a smoked brisket?

4) Get to know my neighbors.
One good thing about taking three months of maternity leave is that I will be home during the day to see what goes on in my neighborhood.  We have lots of great neighbors, but I don't take the time to visit many of them.  I love hearing stories about how the neighborhood has evolved and changed through the years.  And, I am bound and determined to catch the neighbor who allows her dog to poop all over my sidewalk. (Game on pooper!)

So tell me, what is on your third, fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh....decade bucket list?
