Last week on Wednesday I came down with a nasty cold/cough combo. So I ventured to the doctor and they gave me a Z-pack and said "We really have no idea what's wrong with you, but here are some antibiotics just in case." Argh! The Z-pack did not work and I continued to cough my way through the night and woke up to a baby with a bad, barky cough. I decided to not send him to daycare and take him to the doctor just in case it was something contagious. The pediatrician diagnosed Graham with croup and she said I also have croup (just the adult version of the cough/hoarse voice, etc.).
The only thing we can do for an 8-month old with croup is run a humidifier (which we do year-round in his room) and give him a little liquid Benadryl before naps and bedtime. Oh and sing the "Soft kitty, warm kitty" song from the show "Big Bang Theory". Ha!
Soft kitty, warm kitty,
Little ball of fur,
Happy kitty, sleep kitty,
Purr, Purr, Purr
As of today he's feeling a bit better (still coughing!), yet still NOT sleeping through the night. He did great at sleeping through the night during his third and fourth month, but starting June 1st he has been a horrible sleeper! I told Matthew that he either needs to start sleeping through the night or I'm moving to the upstairs bedroom and Tootsie can take over baby duty.
