Missouri River reaches record levels

Jackson, Neb.

It's amazing how much the Missouri River is trying to get back to the unchannelized form.

Chinook Helicopter flying over SSC on our way back from Jackson.

I-29 near Hamilton Blvd. exit (which is closed). Notice the idiots who are stopped on the Interstate to take pictures. We saw a ton of cars doing this. This photo and the following ones were taken at Prospect Hill in Sioux City.

My brother was on the crew that helped build the levy around the Lewis & Clark Interpretive Center and the Riverboat Welcome Center.

The Anderson Dance Pavilion is completely underwater.

Looking at SSC near Covington Golf Course.

The Vets Bridge.

Bev's and the Hilton are becoming surrounded by water.

The river is expected to rise again today (June 15, 2011) as the Corps releases more water from the dams. Let's hope we don't get much more rain!

Thanks Sarah for the pictures of my old stomping grounds!!! Get ready for more water coming. I just emptied our rain gauge and we got an inch and 72 hundeths today and that should be coming down the Big Sioux shortly.
