My Thoughts on Thursday

(At the Omaha Zoo with my younger brother David.)

It's Thursday. I am feeling sleepy, because Bows woke me up at 2:15 a.m. and 5 a.m. I ignored her at 2:15, but had to get up at 5 to take her outside. Then I wished I had a crib to put her in, so she could not jump against the side of the bed and keep me awake. :-)

I am tired of going to meetings, because no matter what the designated topic, it always turns into a conversation on flooding. I know the Missouri River flood is a huge issue for Siouxland, but I can only listen to natural disaster discussion for so long....it's at meetings, on the news, in the grocery store, everywhere! And, frankly it makes me sad that we have forgotten about Mapleton so soon when they still need help.

I think my metabolism is slowing down the closer I get to 30, and that really ticks me off. Now I have to think what exercise I can do to burn off my McDonald's Happy Meal. On the plus side, at least my face still looks young, right?

I've decided to postpone my hair donation to Pantene Pro-V until my 30th birthday. I figured I'd start my 30's with a new do and then I will have lots more hair to donate to women in need of wigs.

I had lunch with my cancer twin on Monday. We haven't seen each other for six months and she looks great. We have both graduated to 3 and 6-month appointments, but it always strikes me as how weird that we have lunch and chat about our chest x-rays, blood draws, potential fertility issues, and PET scans when most 20 and 30-somethings talk about marriage, babies, and reality television. Not that I am mad, because without cancer I would never have made such a good friend.

I am in love with my bicycle. (Sorry Matthew!) I usually ride it around Morningside, but this year I decided to start riding to work. This morning I rode to work, but it unfortunately rained a ton and I wore white pants. However, that does not dampen my love of riding my bike. It makes me feel like a kid, and I get to explore new parts of town. Plus it's exercise without feeling like exercise, so I can still eat a McDonald's Happy Meal once in a while. :-)

I really love my house and yard. Last night I mowed the lawn while Matthew worked in the garage. It was a great opportunity to breathe in the sights in my yard and how all the hard work we have put into it has paid off. We don't know how long we will stay in the little house, because Matthew will graduate in Dec. 2012 with a teaching degree, but I am going to enjoy my casa for now.

I told Matthew I'd like to plan a vacation so we have something to look forward to. I'd love to drive to visit our friends Beau and Amy in Connecticut. Please pray gas prices go down soon! In the meantime we might visit friends in eastern Iowa over a long weekend.

What are your thoughts on Thursday?
