Let Freedom Ring (and Other Fun Stuff)

We had a very packed 4th of July weekend, but a fun one. On Saturday we (well, basically Matt) finished cementing our front sidewalk. We never had a walkway from the street to the sidewalk, so now our grandparents don't have to worry about falling down in the grass. Matt did a great job. Then David and I went to hear Grace Potter at Saturday in the Park. Afterwards we met Matt at House of Q for dinner. Yum! On Sunday, Matt, Bows and I headed to the Gavin's Point Dam for a picnic with friends.
Our friends Chris and Jennifer were in town, so I am glad they could come along and Aaron, too.

It was insane to see how much water was going through the dam! It was like a mini-Niagara Falls. If you got close enough to the dam, you could get splashed!

Bows was excited she could come along!

And, the Deandas brought Argos. He and Bows enjoyed barking at each other.

We ended up finding two picnic tables and a grill right across from the dam. It was a great location and the dogs could have some space to roam.

And another one of the 4 of us with our dogs

It was raining on Sunday morning, but it turned out to be a beautiful day.

Bows and I rode home together.

Matthew rode his motorcycle. We went across the dam and came home on the Nebraska side.

Then we went to Steph's house on Sunday night for a bonfire and s'mores. Kara, Nick, Simon, and Kevin were there, too. Steph showed me that if you make s'mores with a Reeses Peanut Butter cup it's even better than a Hershey bar. Yum!

Simon was not a fan of the fireworks.

On Monday, Matthew did his homework and tried out some new photo techniques. Notice his leg is moving in the pic?

His favorite thing to photograph is Bows. You can tell she is exhausted from her day at the dam....and we gave her a haircut. She is not happy with her lopsided beard. Oops!

Then we went to see fireworks with the Deanda's on Monday night. But, the ballgame went long and fireworks did not start until 11 p.m.! That's late for us old folks. :-) But, Matthew was able to use his fireworks setting on the new camera and lots of them turned out nice.

Happy 4th of July 2011!
