The road to a suprise party

About four months ago, I asked Jennifer if she was planning anything for her boyfriend Chris' 30th birthday. She said she was going to plan a party and so the journey began this last weekend to Muscatine, Iowa. (Approximately 5.15 hours from Sioux City across the great state of Iowa on I-80.)
We arrived in Muscatine just as the sun was setting.

And, the birthday boy had no idea that his girlfriend was bringing 5 of his friends, too!  We took turns knocking on his door every few minutes to surprise him.  However, when we first arrived he was not home! So we quickly ran back to our car and hid inside while he drove past. Phew! It made me feel like I was playing a great game of hide and seek.

Then we headed to downtown Muscatine to the Port City Underground for dinner. Yum! Great food and definitely worth the wait.

Nellie, Brent and Betsy (Don't ask what Brent is doing.)

Then we found a great bike outside to take pictures on.

It took us a bit to take a good picture.

Stay tuned to Day 2 in Muscatine for more birthday party surprises including more visitors from Sioux City!
